The Eastern Michigan Eagles will head down to Muncie to meet the Ball State Cardinals in MAC action from Ball State leads the all-time series, 69-44, after winning the last six meetings.
Eastern Michigan moved to 6-16 after beating Ohio at home. The Eagles outscored the Bobcats in both halves to come through as home underdogs with the 11-point win. EMU scores 73.1 points per game, while allowing 81.1ppg, and shooting 43.8% from the floor.
Eastern Michigan’s record doesn’t erase the fact that they have one of the best players in the country. The postseason is pretty much out of reach, but the Eagles have refused to be an easy out. EMU is 3-6 in MAC play, with a 2-8 record on the road. Emoni Bates had a historic 43-point performance against Toledo, and he leads to Eagles in scoring (20.3) and rebounding (5.5). Duquesne transfer Tyson Acuff went off for a season-high 29 points in the win over Ohio, and he’s now up to 13.1 ppg.
Ball State improved to 15-7 after beating Bowling Green on the road. The Cardinals jumped out to a fast start and held on to beat the Falcons by nine points. Ball State scores 75.3 points per game, while allowing 58.9 ppg, and shooting 46.8% from the field.
Ball State enjoyed a nice road trip, and they’ll look to keep things going here. The Cardinals are 6-3 in MAC play, with a 8-1 record at home. Junior guard Jarron Coleman transferred back after one year at Missouri, and after scoring 19 points or more in four of the last five games, he leads the Cardinals in scoring (15.2) and assists (3.4). Payton Sparks leads the team in rebounding at 7.9 rpg, while scoring 12.1 ppg
EMU is 8-13 against the spread this season, with a 12-9!over/under record. Ball State is 11-9 ATS this year, with a 7-13 o/u record.
I’d love for Emoni Bates to come out and lead EMU to a road underdog victory over Ball State here, but that’d be wishful thinking, to an extent. Ball State has been solid in their own right, but the raw talent the Eagles bring to the table is appealing on the road, and I like spotting them the points for this MAC contest.
