The Michigan State Spartans will head down to Bloomington to face the Indiana Hoosiers in Big Ten action from Assembly Hall on CBS. Indiana leads the all-time series, 71-57, but Michigan State has won the last three meetings.
Michigan State improved to 13-6 after beating Rutgers at home. The Spartans controlled both halves and handed the Scarlet Knights a 13-point loss. Michigan State is scoring 69.7 points per game, while allowing 65.1 ppg and shooting 44.8% from the floor.
Michigan State avoided a third straight loss with a strong effort against Rutgers, and attempt to build on that here in Bloomington. Joey Hauser leads the charge for Sparty. The 6’9 forward double-doubled against Michigan and Illinois, and he’s averaging 13.4 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Tyson Walker leads the team in scoring (14.6) after a 30-point showing against Purdue. A.J. Hoggard is one of the top assist men in the conference at 6.3 apg, and he’s scoring 12.7 ppg.
Indiana moved to 12-6 after defeating Illinois in Champaign. The Hoosiers got a magical performance from Trayce Jackson-Davis and beat the Fighting Illini by 12 points. Indiana is scoring 79.1 points per game, while allowing 67.7 ppg, and shooting 50.9 from the field.
Indiana responded to a three-game skid by picking up double digit wins over Wisconsin and Illinois. Longtime Hoosier Trayce Jackson-Davis continues to be a game-changing presence for IU, and he delivered with a season-high 35 points against the Fighting Illini. TJD grabbed a career-high 24 boards against Northwestern, and he leads IU in scoring (18.6) and rebounding (9.8) for the third season in a row. Jalen Hood-Schifino (13.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.5 apg) dropped a career-high 33 points in the loss to the Wildcats.
Michigan State is 11-8 against the spread this season, with a 9-10 over/under record. Indiana is 8-9-1 ATS this year, with a 10-9 o/u record.
Big Ten Sunday has delivered solid basketball all season, and this contest should follow suit. Indiana has been one of the best offensive teams in the conference, and while that may carry them to victory here, I feel it’s capable of doing the heavy lifting here at home. Michigan State will surely bring the fight as well, and I like the over for this Big Ten matchup.
