The SE Missouri State Redhawks will head up to Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers in a battle of Show-Me State schools from Mizzou Arena on the SEC Network.
SE Missouri State dropped to 5-3 after a road loss to Milwaukee. The Redhawks fell behind early in the first half, and went on the suffer their largest defeat of the season at the hands of the Panthers. SEMO is scoring 70.4 points per game, while shooting 40.3% from the field, and 32.5% from deep.
SEMO is led by the backcourt pairing of Chris Harris and Phillip Russell. Harris is a four-year starter, and he’s reached double figures in six of the first eight games. Harris averages 11.6 ppg and 4.8 rpg, while Russell leads the team in scoring (14.6) and assists (4.3). Georgetown transfer Kobe Clark starts on the block for SEMO, and he leads them with 9.5 rpg, while scoring 7.5 ppg.
Missouri improved to 8-0 after picking up a road win over Wichita State.. The Tigers crossed the border and picked up their most impressive win thus far, defeating the Shockers in overtime, 88-84. Mizzou is scoring 92.6 points per game, while shooting 51.2% from the floor, and 34.3% from three.
There’s been no shortage of offense here for Mizzou in 2022. Four Tigers average double figures comfortably, with Cleveland State transfer D’Moi Hodge leading the way. The redshirt senior has been very consistent early on, scoring 17 points or more in five of the first eight games. Noah Carter, a UNI transfer, scored a team-high 20 points in the win over Wichita, and he’s averaging 12.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg. Missouri mainstay Kobe Brown remains effective alongside him in the frontcourt, grabbing a team-lead 5.5 rpg.
Missouri’s undefeated season was put in jeopardy against Wichita last time out, and you can bet on them coming out much sharper in a return to Columbia., eliminating the possibility of any upset. Mizzou games have unusually high scoring this season due to competition and overtime periods, so I like testing the magic number in this spot. 153 is a large number when it comes to the college game, so take the under here and see just how much heavy lifting Missouri can do against an in-state foe.
