The Rice Owls and Ohio Bobcats face off on Saturday in the College Basketball Invitational at the Ocean Center. 

Rice comes into this game with a 16-16 record overall and they have gone 13-16-1 against the spread. Rice has been struggling coming into this one having lost three of the last four games.  In the last game against North Texas the offense only scored 50 points and that led to the 18 point defeat. Two games ago against Charlotte the offense scored 73 points and won by 12 points. Rice is averaging 75.2 points while their defense is giving up 73.8 points per game. Guard Carl Pierre has been the top player for Rice averaging 15.2 points while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the three point line. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Ohio Bobcats who sit with a 24-9 record and they have gone 14-18 against the spread. Ohio had a nice regular season but they struggled to end the season losing four of their last five games. In the last game against Kent State the defense wasn’t awful but the offense only managed 61 points and that led to the four point defeat. Ohio is averaging 73.9 points while their defense is giving up 67.4 points per game. Guard Mark Sears has been the top player for Ohio averaging 19.5 points while shooting 44.6 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from behind the three point line.
