The Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown in the ACC Tournament at Amalie Arena. When these two teams faced off on February 15th it was Tennessee that won 76-63.
The Volunteers used a balanced attack with four different players scoring at least 14 points. Kentucky was led by Oscar Tshiebwe who finished with 13 points.
Tennessee comes into this game with a 24-7 record and they have won five games in a row. On Friday, the Volunteers faced off with Mississippi State and the offense was good putting up 72 points, but more importantly the defense locked down giving up only 59 points and that was the difference. The Volunteers are averaging 73.6 points while their defense is giving up 63.3 points per game. Kennedy Chandler has been the top player for Tennessee averaging 13.7 points while shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from behind the three point line. In this game Tennessee needs the defense to be strong.
On the other side of this matchup is the Kentucky Wildcats who sit with a 26-6 record overall and they have won three games in a row. On Friday, the Wildcats faced off Vanderbilt, and the offense was strong scoring 77 points, and that was enough to win by six points. Kentucky is averaging 80.1 points while their defense is giving up 65.7 points per game. Oscar Tswiebwe has been the top player for Kentucky averaging 17.3 points while shooting 60.6 percent from the field. The last time these two teams faced the defense struggled and that can’t happen again in this one.
Kentucky is playing some really good basketball right now and they are going to get some revenge from their last loss against Tennessee. Look for the Wildcats defense to be better, and that will be enough for the Wildcats to cover the spread. Back Kentucky against the spread.
