The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Tech Red Raiders face off on Friday in a college basketball showdown in the Big 12 Tournament at T-Mobile Arena. When these two teams faced off on February 22nd it was Texas Tech that came away with the 66-42 victory.
Davion Warren was the top player for Texas Tech scoring 16 points. Oklahoma didn’t have anyone score more than eight points, and the offense is going to need to be better.
The Oklahoma Sooners are on the bubble but their win on Thursday might be enough to put them over the edge. Oklahoma comes into this game with an 18-14 record and they have won four games in a row. On Thursday, Oklahoma faced off with Baylor, and they were able to win 72-67. The top player this season has been Tanner Groves who is averaging 12.4 points while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. There are four different players this season that are averaging at least 10 points per game. In this game if Oklahoma uses a balanced attack, they will be in good shape to come away with the victory.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas Tech Red Raiders who sit with a 24-8 record and they were quite impressive on Thursday. The defense was elite giving up only 41 points to Iowa State, and that led to the blowout victory. The Red Raiders are averaging 72.4 points while their defense is giving up 60.7 points per game. The offense has been good for the most part, but they really try to lean on the defense, and in this game they are going to need the defense to be good. Bryson Williams has been the top player for Texas Tech averaging 14 points while shooting 54.4 percent from the field and 42.7 percent from behind the three point line.
Texas Tech’s defense was elite on Thursday and they are going to step up again in this game. Oklahoma’s offense has been a bit inconsistent at times, and they are going to have issues scoring against this Red Raiders defense. Back Texas Tech against the spread.
