The Davidson Wildcats and Fordham Rams face off on Friday in a college basketball showdown in the Atlantic 10 tournament at Capital One Arena. When these two teams faced off on February 26th it was Davidson that won 66-45.
Davidson was led by Sam Mennega who finished with 17 points. Chuba Ohams was the top player for Fordham scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Fordham comes into this game with a 16-15 record overall and they have won two games in a row. Two games ago against George Washington they won 70-66 and in the last game against George Mason they won 54-49. Fordham was down by three points at the end of the first half, but they found more success in the second half to secure the victory. Fordham is averaging 66.4 points while their defense is giving up 66.5 points per game. Darius Quisenberry has been the top player for Fordham averaging 16.8 points while shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 32 percent from behind the three point line. The last time these two teams played Fordham really struggled to score and they are going to need the offense to be a lot better, or this is going to be another blowout loss.
Davidson comes into this game with a 25-5 record overall but they are coming off a loss in their last game. The defense really struggled against Dayton giving up 82 points, and they were competitive, but couldn’t find enough offensive success. Dayton is averaging 69.1 points while their defense is giving up 60.6 points per game. DaRon Holmes II has been the top player for Davidson averaging 11.9 points while shooting 64.2 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from behind the three point line.
Fordham really struggled to score in the last game against Davidson, and the offense actually struggled to score on Thursday. I expect Davidson is going to lock down with their defense, and that is going to be the difference as the Wildcats cruise to the victory. Back Davidson to come away with a cover of the spread.
