The Central Michigan Chippewas and Toledo Rockets face off on Thursday in a college basketball showdown in the MAC Tournament at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. When these teams faced off on February 19th it was Toledo that won 68-66.
JT Shumate was the top player for Toledo scoring 29 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Cameron Healy was the top player for Central Michigan scoring 18 points.
Central Michigan comes into this game with a 7-22 record and they have gone 15-13-1 against the spread. In the last game against Akron, the defense was strong giving up only 57 points, but the offense could only manage 56 points, and that led to the one point defeat. Central Michigan is averaging 65.8 points while their defense is giving up 77.1 points per game. Guard Kevin Miller was the top player for Central Michigan averaging 42.3 percent from the field.
On the other side of this matchup is the Toledo Rockets who sit with a 25-6 record overall and they have gone 22-7-1 against the spread. In the last game against Bowling Green it was an impressive victory winning 96-56. Toledo is averaging 81.5 points while their defense is giving up 68.4 points per game. Guard Ryan Rollins has been the top player for Toledo averaging 19.2 points while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from behind the three point line. There are four different players that are averaging at least 12.7 points per game.
Central Michigan is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games played on Thursday. Toledo is 8-2 against the spread in their last ten games against a team with a losing straight up record. The under is 5-1 in Central Michigan’s last six games following a straight up loss. The over is 4-1 in Central Michigan’s last five neutral site games.
Toledo had issues the last time they faced off with Central Michigan, but I don’t see this game being that lose. The Chippewas defense has been awful all season, and they are going to really struggle to defend again in this game. Toledo’s offense is going to be the difference as they cover the spread.
