The Northeastern Huskies and Towson Tigers face off on Sunday in a college basketball showdown in the CAA Tournament at the Entertainment and Sports Center. When these two teams faced off on February 5th it was Northeastern that won 58-53.
Northeastern had three different players that scored at least 10 points. Towson was led by Cameron Holden who finished with 21 points.
Northeastern comes into this game with a 9-21 record overall and they have gone 9-20-1 against the spread. Northeastern faced off with William & Mary on Saturday and it took overtime to get the job done, but they were able to win 68-63. Northeastern is averaging 67.2 points while their defense is giving up 68.3 points per game. Jahmyl Telfort has been the top player for Northeastern averaging 12.9 points while shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 25.9 percent from behind the three point line. There are four different players averaging at least 10 points per game and they are going to need a balanced attack in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Towson Tigers who sit with a 24-7 record overall and they have gone 22-9 against the spread. Even though they have found a ton of success this season, they do have that loss against Northeastern earlier this year. Towson's last game came on February 26th and they were able to beat James Madison 95-59. Towson is averaging 73.9 points while their defense is giving up 63.9 points per game. Nicolas Timberlake has been the top player for TCU averaging 14.3 points while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from behind the three point line.
Northeastern beat Towson earlier this season, but don’t let that fool you, the much better in this matchup is the favorite. Towson is going to run up the score, and I don’t see Northeastern having any answer. Look for Northeastern’s lack of offense to let them down, and Towson is going to come away with the cover of the spread.
