Nebraska faces Wisconsin on Sunday, March 6th, 2022 at the Kohl Center for a college basketball Big Ten matchup.
Nebraska is coming off a 78-70 win over Ohio State in a big-time upset victory for the Cornhuskers. It has not been a great season for Nebraska basketball, as the Huskers are only 9-21 on the season and a measly 3-16 in Big Ten, but Nebraska has won two straight and earned the win of the season by beating the Buckeyes last time out. Nebraska will look to the end the regular season with another big upset win here, but it will not be easy. Nebraska’s leading scorer this season has been G Bryce McGowens, who has scored 17.2 points per game for the Cornhuskers. Nebraska as a team has scored 73.4 points per game and has shot the ball at a 44.1% clip from the field. Nebraska has also allowed 79.0 points per game to its opponents as well.
Wisconsin is coming off a 70-67 win over Purdue in its last game at home on March 1st. Wisconsin is now ranked 10th in the nation and has a realistic shot at a one seed for the NCAA Tournament, but the Badgers still have some work to do. Wisconsin has won five straight games going into this game and the team owns a 24-5 overall record and a 15-4 conference record. Wisconsin’s leading scorer so far this season has been G Johnny Davis, who has scored 20.3 points per game, has earned 8.3 rebounds per game, and averages 2.3 assists per game. Wisconsin as a team has scored 70.9 points per game and has shot the ball at a 42.8% clip from the field. Wisconsin has also allowed 66.2 points per game to its opponents as well.
Wisconsin is a 12-point favorite and the total is set at 148.5. Nebraska's defense has not played well at all this season but Wisconsin is not necessarily an offensive juggernaut. I think this game could actually be quite competitive in the first half and maybe through the first 5-10 minutes of the second half. Competitive enough to where Nebraska keeps this one within the number and covers as the road dog. I do expect Wisconsin to win and win comfortably in the end, but not by more than 10.
