Temple faces Houston on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 at the Fertitta Center for a college basketball AAC matchup.
Temple is coming off a 75-70 win over Tulane in its last game on February 27th at home. Temple has now won three of its last four games, which includes an upset win over SMU. Temple has been competitive this season, as right now the Owls are in fourth place in the American conference standings with a record of 9-6. Temple is 16-10 overall this season and has an identical record against the spread as well. Temple G Damian Dunn leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 points per game. Temple as a team has scored 67.5 points per game and has shot the ball at a 40.2% clip from the field. Temple has also allowed 66.4 points per game to its opponents as well.
Houston is coming off a strong win and cover over Cincinnati, 71-53 in its last game on March 1st at home. Houston is on a five-game win streak coming into this game and is the clear favorite to win the AAC. Houston is ranked 14th in the nation, owning a 25-4 overall record and a 14-2 conference record. Houston has also been a very strong cover team, owning an 18-11-0 against the spread record. Houston's leading scorer so far this season is G Kyler Edwards, who has scored 13.6 points per game. Houston as a team has scored 76.1 points per game and has shot the ball at a 46.6% clip from the field. Houston has also allowed 58.8 points per game, making for one of the top defenses in the AAC and the entire country.
Houston is a 16-point favorite and the total is set at 131.5. This total is low for a reason, as Houston's defense is one of the more efficient in the nation. Temple's defense has proven it can compete as well, and this Owls team has not shot the ball very well as a team this season. I think this game is rather low-scoring, as we have seen Houston's defense step it up late in the season. I like the under in this one, as I think both teams could realistically be held under 65 points.
