The Indiana Hoosiers and Ohio State Buckeyes face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at Value City Arena. When these two teams faced off on January 6th it was Indiana that won 67-51.
Trayce Jackson-Davis was the top player for Indiana scoring 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Malaki Branham was the top player for Ohio State scoring 13 points.
Ohio State comes into this game with a 16-7 record but they at times have been a bit inconsistent. Even though they have had success they are coming off a 13 point loss in their last game against Iowa. The offense could only manage 62 points, and that led to the defeat. Ohio State is averaging 74 points while their defense is giving up 66.7 points per game. E.J. Liddell has been the top player for Ohio State averaging 19.7 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from behind the three point line.
On the other side of this matchup is the Indiana Hoosiers who sit with a 16-9 record and they have lost four games in a row. In the last game against Wisconsin, they were competitive, but they were defeated by five points. Indiana comes into this game averaging 71.4 points while the defense is giving up 64.2 points per game. Trayce Jackson-Davis has been the best player for Indiana averaging 18 points while shooting 57.8 percent from the field.
Indiana is 0-4 against the spread in their last four games overall. Indiana is 2-11-1 against the spread in their last 14 road games against a team with a winning home record. The under is 4-0 in Ohio State’s last four games. The under is 6-1 in Ohio State’s last seven games following an against the spread loss.
These are both teams that have had issues as of late, but Ohio State is still the better team in this game. I expect Ohio State’s defense is going to lockdown, and that will be the difference, as Ohio State cruises to the victory. Back Ohio State to come away with a cover of the spread.
