The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Pitt Panthers face off on Saturday in an ACC college basketball showdown at the Petersen Events Center. The last time these two teams faced was in February of 2021 it was Georgia Tech that won 71-65.
Georgia Tech comes into this game with a 10-15 record overall and they have gone 7-15-2 against the spread. The Yellow Jackets have lost three games in a row including the last game against NC State where they only scored 61 points. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 68.8 points while their defense is giving up 69.8 points per game. Michael Devoe has been the top player for Georgia Tech averaging 18.6 points while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from behind the three point line.
On the other side of this matchup is the Pitt Panthers who sit with an 11-16 record overall and they have gone 15-12 against the spread. Even though Pitt hasn’t the best season they have won three games in a row. In the last game against North Carolina, the defense gave up only 67 points to a very good offense, and that led to the victory. Pitt is averaging 62.5 points while their defense is giving up 66.5 points per game. John Huglye has been the top player for Pitt averaging 14.3 points while shooting 44 percent from the field.
Georgia Tech is 1-4-1 against the spread in their last six games overall. The over is 7-1 in Pitt’s last eight games against a team with a losing road record. The over is 8-2 in Georgia Tech’s last 10 road games. Georgia Tech is 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four road games. Pitt is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record.
Pitt has been playing better as of late and a big reason has been the defense. They also like to play a slow past and Georgia Tech is averaging 68.8 points per game. It’s going to be hard for both teams to reach 60 points, and the under is going to cash.
