Ohio faces Toledo on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022 at Savage Arena for a college basketball MAC matchup.
Ohio is coming off a 77-64 win over Western Michigan in its last game on February 5th at home. Ohio was a 21-point favorite in that game, but the Bobcats struggled out of the gates and were not able to cover the large spread. Ohio did earn its fifth straight outright win, however, and now the team has improved to 19-3 overall, 10-1 in conference play, and sits at 10-11-0 against the spread this season. Ohio's leading scorer so far this season has been G Mark Sears, who has scored 19.9 points per game and has earned 4.0 assists per game for the Bobcats. Ohio as a team has scored 75.0 points per game and has shot the ball at a 44.4% clip from the field. Ohio has also allowed 66.0 points per game to its opponents as well.
Toledo is coming off a shocking 93-83 upset loss to Ball State in its last game on the road on February 4th. Toledo was rolling, earning wins in nine straight conference games, and owning a 10-1 conference record before the loss. Toledo will look to bounce back, but it will not be easy against the current top team and defending MAC champion Bobcats. Toledo is 18-5 overall, 10-2 in MAC play, and a strong 16-6-0 against the spread this season. Toledo's leading scorer so far this season has been G Ryan Rollins, who has scored 20.0 points per game for the Rockets. F JT Shumate leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.2 and G RayJ Dennis leads the team in assists per game with 3.7. Toledo as a team has scored 80.7 points per game and has shot the ball at a 47.6% clip from the field as well. Toledo has also allowed 69.2 points per game to its opponents this season.
Toledo is a 4-point favorite and the total is set at 148.5. This should be one of the top games of the night in the mid-major conferences and I think I am going to have to take the points with the defending champs. Ohio is built for these types of games, and even if the Bobcats lose outright I still think this game is decided by a bucket at most. This should be a good one, and I will side with the dog.
