The Charlotte 49ers and FIU Panthers face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at FIU Arena. When these two teams faced off in January of 2021 it was Charlotte that won 68-65.

Charlotte comes into this game with a 12-9 record overall and they have gone 10-11 against the spread. Coming into this game, Charlotte has lost two of their last three games, but they were able to win their last game against Marshall. The offense scored 88 points and that was enough to win by 24 points. Guard Jahmir Young has been the top player for Charlotte averaging 19 points while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from behind the three point line. Austin Butler is also having a nice season averaging 11.7 points while shooting 50 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from behind the three point line.

On the other side of this matchup is the FIU Panthers who sit with a 13-10 record overall and they have gone 9-11-1 against the spread. In the last game against Louisiana Tech the defense gave up 82 points and that led to the four point victory. FIU is averaging 72.7 points while their defense is giving up 69.4 points per game. Tevin Brewer has been the best player for FIU averaging 15.3 points while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the three point line.

FIU is 9-2-3 against the spread in their last 14 games played on Monday. Charlotte is 5-20-1 against the spread in their last 26 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points. The over is 5-0 in FIU’s last five games overall. The over is 6-1 in FIU’s last seven home games.

These are both teams that scored plenty of points in their last game, and I don’t expect there will be a whole lot of defense in this game. I expect this will be a fast-paced game, and there will be at least 80 points scored by both teams. Look for this game to finish right around 145 and the over will cash.
