Ole Miss faces Texas A&M on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 at Reed Arena for a college basketball SEC matchup.
Ole Miss is coming off an 82-72 win over Mississippi State on January 8th in its last game at home. Ole Miss snapped a two-game losing streak with the win and found its first conference victory of the season as well. Ole Miss is now 9-5 overall this season and 1-1 in SEC play. Ole Miss started conference play with a 66-60 overtime loss to Tennessee on the road. Ole Miss is 7-7 against the spread this season. Ole Miss' leading scorer so far this season has been G Jarkel Joiner, who has scored 13.6 points per game for the Rebels. C Nysier Brooks leads the team in rebounds per game (8.5) and G Austin Crowley leads the team in assists per game. Ole Miss as a team has scored 70.5 points per game and has shot the ball at a 43.4% clip from the field. Ole Miss has also allowed 64.2 points per game to its opponents as well.
Texas A&M is coming off an 86-81 win over Arkansas in its last game on January 8th at home. Texas A&M has now won six straight games and has opened SEC play with two big victories. Texas A&M is 13-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play this season. Texas A&M is also 7-7 against the spread to start the season. Texas A&M's leading scorer so far this season has been G Quenton Jackson, who has scored 13.5 points per game for the Aggies. G Tyrece Radford leads the team in rebounds per game (5.6) and G Marcus Williams leads the team in assists per game (3.7). Texas A&M as a team has scored 77.2 points per game and has shot the ball at a 47.0% clip from the field. Texas A&M has also allowed 63.6 points per game to its opponents as well.
Texas A&M is a 5-point favorite and the total is set at 133.5. Texas A&M has been impressive in SEC play but I do not know if this offense can continue to shoot the ball as well as it has. 47% is hard to sustain throughout a full season, and therefore I think Texas A&M is a bit overvalued here. Ole Miss' season has not been pretty but it was comforting to see the 10-point victory over a tough Mississippi State team. I think Texas A&M wins this game but I think it is by a bucket. I will take the points with Ole Miss as the road dog.
