The Washington Huskies and Arizona Wildcats face off on Monday in a Pac-12 college basketball showdown at the McKale Center. When these two teams faced off in February it was Arizona that won 75-74. This on paper looks like a big mismatch.
Washington comes into this game with a 5-5 record and they have gone 3-7 against the spread. This was a team that was hoping to turn the quarter this season but so far that hasn’t been the case. In the last game against Utah Valley the offense could only manage 52 points and that led to the loss. Washington is averaging 69.7 points while their defense is giving up 71.2 points per game. Terrell Brown Jr has been the top player for Washington averaging 21.4 points while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. Outside of Brown though, this isn’t a very talented team, and they need other guys to step up.
On the other side of this matchup is the Arizona Wildcats who sit with an 11-1 record and they have gone 8-3-1 against the spread. This is an impressive Arizona team but in the last game against Tennessee they did struggle. They only scored 21 points in the first half and even though they had a big second half, it wasn’t enough. Arizona is averaging 89.5 points per game which is the best in college basketball. The defense hasn’t been as good, but still not bad giving up 64 points per game. Bennedict Mathurin has been the top player for Arizona averaging 18.2 points while shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from deep.
Arizona is 11-2 against the spread in their last 13 games played on Monday. The over is 8-1 in Arizona’s last nine games as a favorite. The over is 6-1 in Arizona’s last seven games as a home favorite.
Washington’s offense has been a big issue, and their lack of scoring is going to really let them down in this game. Arizona is an elite offensive team, and this game is going to get out of hand early. Back Arizona against the spread.
