Michigan faces UCF on Thursday, December 30th, 2021 at Additional Financial Arena for a college basketball non-conference matchup.
Michigan is coming off an 87-50 win over Southern Utah in its last game on December 18th at home. Michigan has now won three of its last four, but the Wolverines have to be dissatisfied with a 7-4 start to the season, as this is a team that was projected to do big things in college basketball this year. Michigan's most impressive win was a double-digit victory over San Diego State at home, but the Wolverines have really struggled when stepping up in completion this season. Michigan's leading scorer so far this season has been C Hunter Dickinson, who has scored 15.6 points per game and has earned 9.1 rebounds per game for the Wolverines. Michigan as a team has scored 73.5 points per game and has shot the ball at a 47.9% clip from the field. Michigan has also allowed 64.5 points per game to its opponents this season.
UCF is coming off a 75-64 win over North Alabama in its last game on December 22nd at home. UCF has now won four straight games, with three of those wins being at home. UCF opened AAC play with a win over Temple on December 15th on the road, and after this game with Michigan, the Knights will get back into conference play for the rest of the season. UCF's leading scorer so far this season has been G Darin Green Jr, who has scored 14.8 points per game for the Knights. F C.J. Walker leads the team in rebounds per game (5.9) and G Darius Perry leads the team in assists per game (5.2). UCF as a team has scored 73.6 points per game and has shot the ball at a 46.2% clip from the field. UCF has also allowed 63.6 points per game to its opponents.
Michigan is a 3.5-point favorite and the total is set at 137.5. It is not often that UCF gets to host a Big Ten powerhouse in its gym, but the Knights get a crack at Juwan Howard's team here. UCF is a solid team, don't get me wrong, but I am not too sure the Knights are going to be able to keep up with a frustrated Michigan team here. I could see this game being rather close at the start, but I do expect the Wolverines to pull away in the end and I think we are getting some value with Michigan due to its early-season struggles.
