The Brown Bears and Syracuse Orange face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at the Carrier Dome. The last time these two teams faced off was all the way back in 1986.
Brown comes into this game with an 8-5 record overall and they have gone 8-3 against the spread. Brown’s last game came all the way back on December 10th against Vermont, and they were defeated by five points. In the first half Brown only scored 23 points, and even though the offense was better in the second half, it wasn’t enough as they were knocked off. Brown is averaging 72.8 points while their defense is giving up 64 points per game. Kino Lilly Jr has been the top player for Brown averaging 12.4 points while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep.
On the other side of this matchup is the Syracuse Orange who sit with a 5-5 record and they have gone 4-6 against the spread. Syracuse has lost two games in a row including the last game against Georgetown when they gave up 79 points. Syracuse is averaging 77.5 points while their defense is giving up 77.9 points per game. Buddy Boeheim has been the top player for Syracuse averaging 17.6 points while shooting 38 percent from the field and 27.5 percent from behind the three point line. There are five different players who are averaging at least 12.1 points per game.
Brown is 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games. The over is 4-0 in the Bears last four games overall. The over is 6-1 in Syracuse’s last seven games played on Monday. The under is 5-0 in the Bears last 5 games as an underdog of 7.0-12.5.
Both of these teams have had a bit of a layoff so there could be some early struggles for both teams. In the second half though, the pace of Syracuse is going to be too much and Brown won’t have enough offense to keep up. This might be a bit of a sweat in the first half, but in the second half, Syracuse will cruise to a cover of the spread.
