The Oregon Ducks and the Saint Mary’s Gaels will face off as the Maui Invitational continues on Tuesday Night
Eric Williams Jr. had 14 points and seven rebounds and De’Vion Harmon scored 13 points for Oregon in a 73-49 win over Chaminade in the opening round of the Maui Invitational Monday night. Other Ducks would get involved in the action as 5 players had 8 points in the victory for Oregon.
The Ducks are led in scoring by Eric Williams who now averages 13 a night for Oregon. The Oregon Ducks also get 12 points and 3 rebounds a night from former Rutgers guard Jacob Young.
The Ducks put up an average of 72.8 points per game on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Ducks are giving up 64.8 points per contest.
St. Mary’s has little time to prepare for this one as they are coming off of a close win against Notre Dame in their opening round of the Maui Invitational. It was a Dan Fotu 3-pointer in the final minute that lifted Saint Mary's to a 62-59 win over Notre Dame. Notre Dame had a chance to send the game to overtime but couldn't get a good shot off. Fotu led St. Mary’s with 22 points in the evening. Tommy Kuhse had 14 points and Matthais Tass had 7 for the Gaels.
The Gaels are led by Dan Fotu who averages 15 points and 5 rebounds on the season. The Gaels average just under 72 points per game in 45.3% shooting from the field. Saint Mary’s is giving up 60 points per game which ranks 53rd in the nation.
The Ducks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games.
The Gaels are 11-25 ATS in their last 36 neutral site games as an underdog, not the strongest trend but I look for them to change that tonight.
After Notre Dame, St. Mary’s will and should be prepared for a tough contest. Oregon's easy win to start the Maui Invitational might have been too easy of a challenge and the talent difference may shock them. This is hard for me as I am a Ducks fan, I just think St. Mary’s is more prepared for this spot as they have had tougher games this year. I think they win this outright, but to be safe I’ll take the points.
