Oregon State faces Oklahoma State on Sunday, March 22nd at a stadium to be determined later for an NCAA basketball Round of 32 matchup.
Oregon State was able to pull off the infamous #12 seed vs. #5 seed upset over the SEC's Tennessee on Friday evening. Oregon State took an early lead and did not look back, as the Beavers dominated the game from start to finish. Oregon State beat the Vols by the final score of 70-56, and the dream was kept alive for coach Tinkle's squad. Oregon State won the PAC-12 championship over Colorado to get to the tourney as the 12 seed, as not many other teams are as hot as the Beavers right now. Oregon State's leading scorer is G Ethan Thompson, who has scored 15.3 points per game for the Beavers. Oregon State as a team has scored 70.5 points per game, has allowed 68 points per game to its opponents, and has earned around 33 rebounds per contest.
Oklahoma State survived a potential upset in the first round on Friday when it took on Liberty. Liberty held a modest three-point lead at halftime of that game, but the Cowboys were not intimidated and won the second half by 12 to win the game by nine overall. The final score of that one was 69-60, but Cade Cunningham certainly struggled as he went 3-14 from the field. Oklahoma State will now have to face its second double-digit seed of the tournament for a chance at a Sweet Sixteen berth. Of course, Cade Cunningham leads this Cowboys team in scoring, as he averages over 20 points per game. Oklahoma State as a team has scored 77 points per game and has allowed around 72 points per game to its opponents as well.
Oklahoma State opens as a 5.5-point favorite and the total is set at 142.5. I like Oklahoma State to win this game in the end, but I do think Oregon State can keep this one close. Oregon State is a completely different team than what we saw at the beginning of the season, and I think the Beavers go down swinging here. I will take the points in what should be a better game than some might think.
