The 2-seed VCU Rams (19-6) was able to advance to the A-10 Championship after defeating the 3-seed Davidson Wildcats, 64-52, on March 6th. VCU was outstanding defensively against Davidson and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 47-33 lead with 9:59 left in the 2nd half. VCU shot 47.3% from the field and 26.3% from beyond the arc while Davidson shot 29.8% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. VCU lost the turnover battle by a 14-11 margin, however, did outrebound Davidson by a 39-34 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Rams was Nah’Shon Hyland who had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, VCU is averaging 72.0 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Rams are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 32.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Defensively, VCU is holding their opponents to an average of 64.8 ppg on 40.5% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of -0.2 and a turnover margin of 2.2.

The 1-seed St. Bonaventure Bonnies was able to advance to the A-10 Championship after defeating the 4-seed Saint Louis Billikens, 71-53, on March 6th. St. Bonaventure was lights out on the defensive end against Saint Louis and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 50-34 lead with 12:46 left in regulation. St. Bonaventure shot 47.4% from the field and 23.8% from beyond the arc while holding Saint Louis to just 36.5% from the field and 29.4% from beyond the arc. St. Bonaventure outrebounded Saint Louis by a 35-27 margin and won the turnover battle by a 11-9 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bonnies was Kyle Lofton who had a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, & 1 block.

On the season, St. Bonaventure is averaging 70.3 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Bonnies are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 35.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. Bonaventure has been led by Kyle Lofton (14.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.5 spg), Jaren Holmes (13.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.0 apg), Jalen Adaway (12.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.5 apg), & Dominick Welch (11.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, St. Bonaventure is holding their opponents to an average of 60.1 ppg on 38.8% shooting from the field. The Bonnies have a rebound margin of 4.0 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The Rams are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 Sunday games away from home. The Bonnies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games and 6-3 ATS in their last 9 March games.

VCU is one against a very good team led by their defense that ranks 43rd in scoring defense & 5th in steals per game, however, the Rams offense can struggle at times as we saw towards the end of the regular season in Davidson & George Mason. St. Bonaventure has won 5 of their last 6 games and have been led this season by their defense that ranks 4th in scoring defense, 7th in defensive FG%, & t-59th in rebound margin. St. Bonaventure has looked great in their first two games in the A-10 Tournament against Duquesne & Saint Louis and between the fact that the Bonnies defeated VCU by a 70-54 margin in the regular season and that I think the Bonnies defense will have success shutting down the Rams offensive attack, I am taking a St. Bonaventure to cover this small spread. Good Luck!
