Duke faces Florida State on Thursday, March 11th at Greensboro Coliseum for an NCAA basketball ACC conference tournament matchup.
We have heard many times that the only way that Duke is going to the Big Dance is if the Blue Devils run the table and win the entire ACC Tournament. So far, so well, as Duke has earned its first two wins of the tourney over Boston College and Louisville by double-digits each. Duke took down Boston College by the final score of 86-51 and then took down Louisville on Wednesday by the score of 70-56. Duke is now 13-11 and will look to keep it going against a very tough Florida State team. Duke's leading scorer so far this season has been F Matthew Hurt, who has scored 18.2 points per game for the Blue Devils. Duke as a team has scored 76.3 points per game and has shot the ball at a 46.9% clip from the field. Duke has also allowed 72.0 points per game to its opponents as well.
Florida State ended its regular season with a shocking outright loss to Notre Dame on the road on March 6th by the final score of 83-73. That was a game that Florida State seemed to never be truly in, as the Fighting Irish would not let up. Florida State is still ranked 15th in the nation and is 15-5 overall this season with an 11-4 ACC record. Florida State is also 11-8-1 against the spread this season. Florida State's leading scorer so far this season has been G M.J. Walker, who has scored 13.1 points per game for the Seminoles. Florida State as a team has scored 79.6 points per game and has shot the ball at a 47.2% clip from the field. Florida State has also allowed 70.1 points per game to its opponents as well.
Florida State opens as a 3-point favorite and the total is set at 153.5. This line tells me that the books have a lot of respect for Coach K in March, and how could you not? I like Duke to at least cover this number, as I would not be surprised to see the numbers be in play here.
