The Monmouth Hawks will travel to Alumni Gymnasium (Rider) to take on the Rider Broncs this Friday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The Monmouth Hawks will look for a 2-game sweep of the Rider Broncs after the Hawks defeated the Broncs by a 77-74 margin in OT this Thursday afternoon. Monmouth was able to fight back from a 38-29 halftime deficit to force OT and was able to take the lead for good after a George Papas three-pointer gave the Hawks a 76-74 lead with :26 seconds left in OT. Monmouth shot 47.5% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc while Rider shot 40.9% from the field and 44.0% from beyond the arc. Monmouth outrebounded Rider by a 40-39 margin and won the turnover battle by a 18-14 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Hawks was Melik Martin (24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 3 steals) while the Broncs were led by Dwight Murray Jr. (21 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists).
Coming into their game against Rider on Wednesday, Monmouth was averaging 77.6 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Hawks were averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 37.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Monmouth had been led by Deion Hammond (17.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.4 spg), George Papas (12.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.8 apg), Melik Martin (11.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 12 spg), & Marcus McClary (6.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.4 apg).
Defensively, Monmouth was allowing their opponents to average 74.8 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field. The Hawks had a rebound margin of -1.6 and a turnover margin of 2.4.
Coming into their game against Monmouth, Rider was averaging 67.3 ppg on 42.6% shooting from the field. The Broncs were averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Rider had been led by Dwight Murray Jr. (14.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.1 spg), Dontrell McQuarter (9.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.6 apg), Christian Ings (8.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.2 apg), & Allen Powell (7.9 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.7 apg).

The Hawks are just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games and just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against Rider. The Broncs are 3-4 ATS in their last 7 games and 6-0 ATS in their last 5 games when playing at home against Monmouth.
Monmouth picked up a nice win after losing both games to Iona and has been led by their offense that ranks 49th in scoring offense & 42nd in 3P-FG%. Rider picked up a nice road win against St. Peter’s recently, however, I think that was more of a rare performance from the Broncs as Rider comes into this game ranked just 269th in scoring offense & 267th in scoring defense. Rider is just 1-7 at home this season and as I just think Monmouth is going to be a bit sharper on the offensive end as their win on Thursday was their first game in about two weeks, my initial lean is to take the Hawks to cover what should be able a 5-point spread.
Update - Line has been released and as it's at the 5-point mark, I'm sticking with Monmouth to cover. Good Luck!
