The George Mason Patriots and Davidson Wildcats will square off at the Robins Center in the Quarterfinals of the A-10 Championship this Friday night.
The George Mason Patriots finished their regular season with an overall record of 12-8 and earned the 6-seed in the A-10 Championship with a conference record of 8-6. George Mason was able to advance out of the 2nd round after defeating the George Washington Colonials, 73-59, on Thursday night. George Mason went into halftime trailing by a 25-22 margin, however, the Patriots were outstanding offensively in the 2nd half against the Colonials and pulled away after taking a 63-53 lead with 2:48 left in regulation. George Mason shot 48.3% from the field and 31.3% from beyond the arc while George Washington shot 36.8% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Patriots Jordan Miller who had a double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, & 2 assists.
On the season, George Mason is averaging 71.5 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Patriots are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 33.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, George Mason has been led by Jordan Miller (15.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.1 apg), Javon Greene (11.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.8 spg), Tyler Kolek (10.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg), & Josh Oduro (10.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.1 apg).
Defensively, George Mason is allowing their opponents to average 68.5 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Patriots have a rebound margin of 3.2 and a turnover margin of 1.4.
The Davidson Wildcats finished their regular season with an overall record of 12-7 and earned the 3-seed in the A-10 Championship after finishing conference paly with a 7-4 record. Davidson was solid on both ends of the court this season as the Wildcats current ranked 159th in scoring offense, 33rd in FG%, & 31st in scoring defense. Davidson could not pick up a big non-conference win early in the season after losing close games to both Texas & Providence, however, the Davidson was once again solid in conference play which included an impressive 65-57 victory against VCU in their regular season finale.
On the season, Davidson is averaging 71.9 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 9.6 three-pointers per game on 35.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Davidson has been led by Kellan Grady (16.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.2 apg), Hyunjung Lee (13.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.6 apg), Carter Collins (11.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg), & Luka Brajkovic (10.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.5 apg).
Defensively, Davidson is holding their opponents to an average of 63.4 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of -0.5.
The Patriots are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games. The Wildcats are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 neutral site games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games as a favorite.
George Mason is a well-coached team that has been decent on both ends of the court this season, ranking 171st in scoring offense & 127th in scoring defense, however, this is a team that can struggle hitting shots at times as they currently rank just 223rd in FG% & 207th in 3P-FG%. Davidson has been led by their defense this season which has been strong on all aspects and as I expect the Wildcats to have some success offensively as they are a good three-point shooting team, I think the play here is to take Davidson to cover. Good Luck!
