The 25th ranked Wisconsin Badgers dropped to 16-9 on the season after being defeated by the 5th ranked Illinois Fighting Illini, 74-69, this past Saturday. Wisconsin had no answers on either end of the floor for Illinois and could not fight all the way back after falling behind by a 51-38 margin with 8:47 left in regulation. Wisconsin shot 34.8% from the field and 32.3% from beyond the arc while Illinois shot 52.1% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc. Wisconsin won the turnover battle by a 20-8 margin, however, was outrebounded by Illinois by a 43-30 margin in the loss. The 23rd ranked Purdue Boilermakers won their 3rd straight game and improved to 16-8 on the season after defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions, 73-52, this past Friday night. Purdue was incredible on the defensive end against Penn State and had little trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 41-26 lead. Defensively, Purdue is holding their opponents to an average of 65.6 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Boilermakers have a rebound margin of 6.2 and a turnover margin of -1.1.
The Badgers are 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss, however, are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. The Boilermakers are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win.
Wisconsin has struggled as of late, losing 5 of their last 8 games, and despite having a solid defense, the offense has really struggled this season as the Badgers currently rank just t-216th in scoring offense & 271st in FG%. Purdue has won 4 of their last 5 games and have been decent on both sides of the ball as the Boilermakers rank 125th in scoring offense, 60th in scoring defense, & 71st in defensive FG%. Purdue is an impressive 9-1 at home this season and as I think the Wisconsin offense is going to struggle in this one, I think Purdue will do enough offensively to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
