The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will travel to Additional Financial Arena to take on the UCF Knights this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane dropped to 10-10 on the season after being defeated by the Cincinnati Bearcats, 70-69, this past Wednesday. Tulsa was able to fight back to take a late lead after trailing Cincinnati by a 59-50 margin with 9:39 left in regulation, however, Cincinnati was able to pull out the victory after a Jeremiah Davenport layup gave the Bearcats the lead for good with 12.6 seconds left in regulation. Tulsa shot 42.9% from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc while Cincinnati shot 40.6% from the field & 38.5% from beyond the arc. Tulsa was outrebounded by Cincinnati by a 41-32 margin while each team committed 14 turnovers. Leading the way for the Golden Hurricane was Elijah Joiner who had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 2 steals.
On the season, Tulsa is averaging 66.3 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Golden Hurricane are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 29.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Tulsa has been led by Brandon Rachal (14.5 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.6 spg), Elijah Joiner (11.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.4 apg), Rey Idowu (7.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg), & Darien Jackson (7.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.4 spg).
Defensively, Tulsa is holding their opponents to an average of 64.2 ppg on 40.0% shooting from the field. The Golden Hurricane have a rebound margin of -2.2 and a turnover margin of 1.7.
The UCF Knights won their 2nd straight game and improved to 8-11 on the season after defeating the Tulane Green Wave, 84-81, on February 20th. UCF was outstanding offensively against Tulane and was able to hang on late after taking a 71-60 lead with 7:51 left in regulation. UCF shot 54.9% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the arc while Tulane shot 50.9% from the field and 45.8% from beyond the arc. UCF was outrebounded by Tulane by a 28-26 margin and committed 16 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Knights was Darius Perry who had 20 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists, 1 block, & 2 steals.
On the season, UCF is averaging 67.1 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Knights are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 36.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UCF has been led by Darius Perry (14.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.1 spg), Brandon Mahan (13.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Darin Green Jr. (11.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg), & Dre Fuller Jr. (7.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.2 spg).
Defensively, UCF is allowing their opponents to average 70.3 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Knights have a rebound margin of -1.7 and a turnover margin of -1.5.
The Golden Hurricane are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games following three or more consecutive home games and 40-19-1 ATS in their last 60 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Knights are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Tulsa comes into this game losing 4 of their last 5 games, however, this is still an above average team that has picked up a win against Houston this season and has a defense that ranks 39th in scoring defense & 87th in turnover margin. UCF has had their last two games postponed/cancelled and has not played in over a week, and despite winning 3 of their last 4 games, this is a team that has struggle on the season scoring the basketball as the Knights rank just 272nd in scoring offense & 230th in FG%. UCF is 5-3 at home, however, as Tulsa has a winning record on the road this season and as I think UCF offense is going to struggle in this one, I think the play here is to take the Golden Hurricane and the points. Good Luck!
