The Miami Hurricanes lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 7-14 on the season after being defeated by the 11th ranked Florida State Seminoles, 88-71, this past Wednesday. Miami struggled offensively against Florida State and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 49-28 margin. Miami shot 34.3% from the field and 34.8% from beyond the arc while Florida State shot 53.6% from the field and 36.0% from beyond the arc. Miami was outrebounded by Florida State by a 45-36 margin and forced just 11 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Hurricanes was Isaiah Wong who had 29 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, & 2 steals.
On the season, Miami is averaging 66.3 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field. The Hurricanes are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 29.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Miami has been led by Isaiah Wong (17.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.2 spg), Kameron McGusty (11.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 spg), Elijah Olaniyi (11.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.1 spg), & Anthony Walker (9.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg).
Defensively, Miami is allowing their opponents to average 71.7 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field. The Hurricanes have a rebound margin of 0.0 and a turnover margin of -0.4.
The Clemson Tigers won their 4th straight game and improved to 14-5 on the season after defeating the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 60-39, this past Wednesday. Clemson had no trouble shutting down the Wake Forest offense and easily cruised to victory after going into halftime with a 29-15 lead. Clemson shot 43.5% from the field and 30.4% from beyond the arc while Wake Forest shot just 25.5% from the field and 20.8% from beyond the arc. Clemson outrebounded Wake Forest by a 40-22 margin and forced 10 turnovers in the victory. Defensively, Clemson is holding their opponents to an average of 61.8 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 0.7 and a turnover margin of 1.4.
The Hurricanes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games, however, are just 8-20 ATS in their last 28 road games. The Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 home games.
This is a huge number for a Clemson team that does not score much to cover, however, I am not going to overthink this as Miami has lost 8 of their last 9 games and has really struggled scoring the basketball as the Hurricanes rank just 279th in scoring offense & 276th in FG%. Clemson is 9-1 at home this season and as I think their defense, which ranks 13th in scoring defense, will give Miami a bunch of trouble in this one, I am taking Clemson to cover this double-digit spread. Good Luck!
