The Manhattan Jaspers snapped their 5-game losing streak and improved to 6-9 on the season after defeating the Iona Gaels, 77-70, on February 15th. Manhattan led by a 47-37 margin at halftime and was able to pull away later after closing out the final 3:34 of regulation on a 5-0 run. Manhattan shot 44.2% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc while Iona shot 44.0% from the field and 26.3% from beyond the arc. Manhattan outrebounded Iona by a 31-29 margin and won the turnover battle by a 15-14 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Jaspers was Elijah Buchanan who had a double-double with 26 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, & 2 steals.
On the season, Manhattan is averaging 63.3 ppg on 36.5% shooting from the field. The Jaspers are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 27.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Manhattan has been led by Anthony Nelson (13.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.1 apg), Elijah Buchanan (12.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.4 bpg), Warren Williams (10.9 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.7 bpg), & Samir Stewart (8.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.6 spg).
Defensively, Manhattan is holding their opponents to an average of 66.9 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Jaspers have a rebound margin of -0.5 and a turnover margin of 0.9.
The Siena Saints improved to 9-3 on the season after defeating the Niagara Purple Eagles, 68-66, this past Sunday. Siena allowed Niagara to fight back from a 50-41 deficit to make it a game late, however, the Saints were able to pull out the victory after Jackson Stormo hit a game-winning layup with just 0.2 seconds left in regulation. Siena shot 50.0% from the field and 38.9% from beyond the arc while Niagara shot 47.3% from the field and 47.4% from beyond the arc. Siena lost the turnover battle by a 16-8 margin, however, did outrebound the Purple Eagles by a 37-24 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Saints was Manny Camper who had 18 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, & 2 blocks.
On the season, Siena is averaging 67.6 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Saints are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Siena has been led by Manny Camper (13.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 4.3 apg), Jordan King (12.8 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.2 apg), Jalen Pickett (12.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.0 bpg), & Jackson Stormo (9.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Siena is holding their opponents to an average of 62.4 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Saints have a rebound margin of 2.9 and a turnover margin of -1.1.
The Jaspers are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games and just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Saints are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games.
Manhattan picked up a much-needed win against Iona, however, the Jaspers are one of the worst offensive teams in CBB as they come into this game ranked just 322nd in scoring offense & 337th in FG%. Siena can also have trouble scoring the basketball, however, the Saints defense has been outstanding ranking 19th in scoring defense & 67th in defensive FG% and as I just do not see Manhattan scoring more than about 50 points in this one, I think Siena does enough to cover this double-digit home spread. Good Luck!
