The Davidson Wildcats won their 5th straight game and improved to 11-5 on the season after defeating the Southern Virginia Knights, 101-51, this past Friday night. Davidson had no trouble taking care of business against Southern Virginia and had no trouble picking up the victory after going into halftime with a 55-22 lead. Davidson shot 56.7% from the field and 45.0% from beyond the arc while Southern Virginia shot 30.8% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. Davidson outrebounded Southern Virginia by a 42-26 margin and won the turnover battle by a 14-5 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Kellan Grady who had 25 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.
On the season, Davidson is averaging 74.4 ppg on 48.3% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game on 36.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Davidson has been led by Kellan Grady (17.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.1 apg), Hyunjung Lee (13.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.9 apg), Carter Collins (13.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.1 apg), Luka Brajkovic (10.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 bpg).
Defensively, Davidson is allowing their opponents to average 63.9 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 8.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies dropped to 10-3 on the season after being defeated by the VCU Rams, 67-64, on February 12th. St. Bonaventure trailed by a 33-26 margin at halftime and could not fight all the way back after the Rams took a 61-51 lead with 5:55 left in regulation. St. Bonaventure shot 44.0% from the field and 20.0% from beyond the arc while VCU shot 36.1% from the field and 20.0% from beyond the arc. St. Bonaventure was outrebounded by VCU by a 43-34 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 15-11 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Bonnies was Jalen Adaway who had 23 points, 8 rebounds, & 1 assist.
On the season, St. Bonaventure is averaging 71.2 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Bonnies are averaging 5.2 three-pointers per game on 32.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. Bonaventure has been led by Kyle Lofton (15.4 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.5 spg), Jalen Holmes (13.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.0 spg), Jalen Adaway (12.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.6 apg), & Dominick Welch (11.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.2 spg).
Defensively, St. Bonaventure is holding their opponents to an average of 63.3 ppg on 38.9% shooting from the field. The Bonnies have a rebound margin of 3.0 and a turnover margin of 0.8.
The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games. The Bonnies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
St. Bonaventure is a very good basketball team, led by their defense which ranks 30th in scoring defense & 9th in defensive FG%, however, the Bonnies do come into this game losing two of their last three games. Davidson is the more balanced team as they currently rank 103rd in scoring offense & 39th in scoring defense and between the fact that the Wildcats have some solid scoring threats that should have some success against the Bonnies defense and that St. Bonaventure does not have much depth as they have five players averaging over 30+ minutes per game, I think Davidson does enough at worst with the points to cover in this one. Good Luck!
