Mississippi State had one of their worst offensive performances of the season and could not make a run in the 2nd half after going into halftime trailing by a 45-30 margin. Mississippi State shot 42.3% from the field and 26.3% from beyond the arc while Vanderbilt shot 45.5% from the field and 43.3% from beyond the arc. Mississippi State was outrebounded by Vanderbilt by a 36-27 margin while also losing the turnover battle by a 17-13 margin in the loss. Stewart Jr. (16.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.5 spg), Tolu Smith (12.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.0 apg), & Abdul Ado (4.9 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.8 bpg).
Defensively, Mississippi State is holding their opponents to an average of 66.9 ppg on 41.2% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 6.9 and a turnover margin of -2.0.
The Ole Miss Rebels won their 4th straight game and improved to 12-8 on the season after defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks, 81-74, this past Saturday. Ole Miss was outstanding offensively against South Carolina and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 67-52 lead with 6:15 left in regulation. The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. The Rebels are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 home games.
Mississippi State looked awful against Vanderbilt and it is hard to imagine that the Bulldogs are going to have a lot of success to close out their season behind an offense that ranks just 202nd in scoring offense & 297th in three-pointers made per game. Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State by a 64-46 margin on the road earlier this season and as I just cannot see the Bulldogs offense having any success against the Rebels 39th ranked scoring defense on the road, I am taking Ole Miss to win big again and cover this mid-range home spread. Good Luck!
