The Arizona State Sun Devils will travel to Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom to take on the UCLA Bruins this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Arizona State Sun Devils dropped to 7-10 on the season after being defeated by the 17th ranked USC Trojans, 89-71, this past Wednesday night. Arizona State had no answers on the defensive end against USC and could not fight back after the Trojans took a 67-58 lead with 10:55 left in regulation. Arizona State shot 45.0% from the field and 53.3% from beyond the arc while USC shot 54.5% from the field and 55.0% from beyond the arc. Arizona State was outrebounded by USC by a 36-26 margin and committed 10 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Sun Devils was Remy Martin who had 30 points, 2 rebounds, & 3 assists.
On the season, Arizona State is averaging 74.6 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Sun Devils are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Arizona State has been led by Remy Martin (19.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.3 spg), Josh Christopher (14.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.5 spg), Alonzo Verge Jr. (12.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.1 spg), & Marcus Bagley (11.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.2 apg), Both Josh Christopher (Leg) & Marcus Bagley (Ankle) are questionable for this matchup.
Defensively, Arizona State is allowing their opponents to average 77.3 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Sun Devils have a rebound margin of -8.5 and a turnover margin of 4.6.
The UCLA Bruins won their 2nd straight game and improved to 15-5 on the season after defeating the Arizona Wildcats, 74-60, this past Thursday night. UCLA was outstanding from the field against Arizona and was able to pull away from the Wildcats for the victory after taking a 67-54 lead with 3:22 left in regulation. UCLA shot 53.3% from the field and 26.7% from beyond the arc while Arizona shot 42.0% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc. UCLA was outrebounded by Arizona by a 33-32 margin, however, won the turnover battle by a 16-7 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bruins was Jaime Jaquez Jr. who had 25 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, & 3 steals.
On the season, UCLA Bruins is averaging 73.0 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field. The Bruins are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 36.2% shooting from the field. Offensively, UCLA has been led by Jonny Juzang (13.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.8 apg), Jaime Jaquez Jr. (12.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Tyger Campbell (11.2 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5.7 apg, 1.2 spg), Cody Riley (9.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.3 apg).
Defensively, UCLA is holding their opponents to an average of 67.5 ppg on 42.8% shooting from the field. The Bruins have a rebound margin of 4.7 and a turnover margin of 1.4.
The Sun Devils are 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games. The Bruins are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 home games.
UCLA is a perfect 11-0 at home this season, however, this is a bunch of points for the Bruins to cover as although their coming off a 14-point victory against Arizona, the Bruins were only able to defeat both Oregon State & Washington at home by 5-points each. Arizona State has had a tough season, however, they have the best player on the court in Remy Martin and as the Sun Devils do a good job of winning the turnover battle and that I think their offense will be able to have success against the Bruins defense, I think Arizona State does enough with the points to get the cover. Good Luck!
