The Line: Charlotte -1.5 -- Over/Under: 136
The Florida International Panthers (19-13, CONF 10-9) and Charlotte 49ers (16-13, CONF 10-8) face off in the Conference USA tournament on Thursday at The Ford Center at the Star. FIU and Charlotte played twice this year and each of the teams won one of the games.
Florida International have been up and down the last month and coming into the conference tournament they have lost five of the six games. The Panthers at times have had issues with the opposing dictating pace, and it’s not something that can happen in this game.
In the first game of the tournament, FIU played Rice, and they were able to dictate the pace and that was the difference. FIU’s offense was elite putting up 85 points and that led to a big victory.
Against Rice, it was a balanced attack used by FIU with three players scoring at least 17 points. Trejon Jacob led the way putting up 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
Charlotte didn’t play on the first day of the conference tournament, but they have also struggled losing four of the last six games,
In the last game against LA Tech, Charlotte’s offense really struggled putting up only 43 points and that led to the loss.
Over the last five games, Charlotte is averaging only 55.4 points and the offense is giving up 63.2 points.
Jordan Shepard is the star of the 49ers averaging 14 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field.
The under is 7-2 in FIU’s last nine games played on Thursday. The over is 8-3 in FIU’s last 11 games played on a neutral site. The under is 7-3 in Charlotte’s last ten neutral site games. FIU is 7-3 against the spread in their last ten games overall.
Charlotte's offense is struggling coming into this game and that is going to let them down. Look for FIU to find some offense and that will be enough for them to win the game and cover the spread.
