The Saint Mary’s Gaels and Gonzaga Bulldogs face off in the West Coast Conference champion on Tuesday night. Gonzaga won both of the meetings against Saint Mary’s this year.
Saint Mary’s has won nine of the last ten games including both games during the WCC tournament. On Monday night it wasn’t pretty against BYU, but the offense scored just enough to come away with a one point victory. Guard Jordan Ford was the Gaels best player putting up 18 points in 34 minutes of play.
The most impressive part of their game against BYU, was that their defense gave up only 50 points.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs were the favorites in the West Coast Conference coming into the season and now they are only one win away from sweeping the regular season and postseason. As much success as the Bulldogs have had this season, they haven’t been as dominant as late. A few games ago Gonzaga lost to BYU, and on Monday night they had issues getting by San Francisco.
The offense was good against San Francisco, putting up 81 points but the defense struggled giving up 77.
On offense the Bulldogs were led by Killian Tillie who put up 19 points and ten rebounds in 36 minutes of play. Gonzaga had had four players finish with at least 14 points, and it’s going to ake a balanced attack again in this game.
The under is 37-14 in Saint Mary’s last 51 games as an underdog. Gonzaga is 14-5 against the spread in their last 19 games played on Tuesday. Gonzaga is 3-7 against the spread in their last ten games overall.
The over is 20-8 in Gonzaga’s last 28 games against WCC. Saint Mary’s is 7-19 against the spread in their last 26 meetings against Gonzaga. The under is 21-8 in the last 29 meetings between Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s.
Much like their last game against BYU, Saint Mary’s knows the best chance to come away with a win is to keep this pace slow and they will do that. That slower pace will keep the total points down and the under will cash.
