College Basketball: Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 4:00 pm (UTSA Convocation Center)
The Line: UTSA -1 -- Over/Under: 160
The Marshall Thundering Herd (15-15, CONF 9-8) and UTSA Roadrunners (13-17, CONF 7-10) face off in a Conference USA showdown at the UTSA Convocation Center. Texas San Antonio beat Marshall 72-63 earlier this season.
Marshall isn’t as good as years last team, but their record might be a little deceiving, and it wouldn’t be all that shocking if they made a run to the NCAA tournament. Marshall comes into this game having won three of the last four games and they also covered the spread in each of those wins.
In Marshall’s last game the offense was elite putting up 94 points against FAU, and when they are at their best the offense is the difference.
Marshall is led by Taevion Kinsey who is currently averaging 16.3 points per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the field.
UTSA has been one of the more inconsistent teams in the conference and it seems every night is different. The Roadrunners have lost three of the last four games, and they are coming off a game where their offense really struggled putting up only 59 points against Old Dominion.
At home this season UTSA’s offense has been really good giving up 78.5 points per game, and goal number one in this game should be to run up the score.
The Roadrunners are led by guard Jhivvan Jackson who is averaging 26.9 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. Against Old Dominion, Jackson only scored 14 points and thy need him to be in this game.
Marshall is 4-13 against the spread in their last game 17 games played on Saturday. Marshall is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games. The over is 9-1 in UTSA”s last ten games played on Saturday. The over is 16-5-1 in UTSA’s last 22 games overall. The over is 5-2-1 in the last eight meetings.
These are two teams who can run up the score and there should be plenty of that happening in this game. Look for UTSA to push the pace, and for Marshall to have no issue to keep up. Back the over to cash with ease.
