The UNC Wilmington Seahawks (10-21, CONF 5-13) and Drexel Dragons (13-18, CONF 6-12) face off in the CAA tournament at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. The home team has won the last four meetings between UNC Wilmington and Drexel including the two previous matchups this season.
UNC Wilmington has had some real issues this season but coming into this game they have won two of the last three games. The offense hasn’t been great for the Seahawks, but the defense has been the real issue giving up 72.4 points per game.
Over the last five games the Seahawks defense has been a little better giving up only 70.2 points per game.
UNC Wilmington is led by guard Jaylen Sims who is averaging 12.1 points while shooting 37.5 percent from the field.
Much like the Seahawks, Drexel has had some real issues this season and coming into this game they have only one win over their last ten games. During those nine losses, Drexel has also failed to cover each of the spreads.
Over the last five games, Drexel’s defense has really struggled giving up 76.8 points per game and letting opponents shoot 50 percent from the field.
Drexel is led by Camren Wynter who is averaging 16.1 points while shooting 44.7 percent from the field. Even though the Dragons have been struggling, Wynter has kept chugging along, and others need to step up. If Wynter is the only one having a big game in this one, they are going to have a lot of issues coming away with a win.
The under is 6-2 in UNC Wilmington’s last eight games overall. The over is 19-9 in UNC Wilmington’s last 28 games played on a neutral site. Drexel is 1-9-1 against the spread in their last 11 games overall. Drexel is 3-13 against the spread in their last 26 games played on Saturday.
UNC Wilmington is playing the better basketball as of late and they are going to have success in this game. The Seahawks defense is going to slow down Drexel and that will be enough for them to cover the spread.
