The Columbia Lions (6-22, CONF 1-11) and Princeton TIgers (13-12, CONF 8-4) face off in an Ivy League showdown on Friday night at the Jadwin Gymnasium. Princeton beat Columbia 81-74 earlier this season.
Columbia has had a terrible season and coming into this game they have lost ten games in a row. During the ten-game stretch, Columbia has also covered only three spreads.
Away from home this season Columbia is 0-14 and the defense has been the biggest issue averaging only 74.7 points per game. The offense also hasn’t been great for Columbia averaging only 63.1 points while shooting right around 37 percent from the field.
Columbia is led by MIke Smith who is averaging 22.8 points per game, but outside of him the team doesn’t have a whole lot of offensive production.
Princeton played a tough non conference schedule that really tested them. Princeton has played four games in a row on the road and they were able to come away with a 2-2 split. At this point they have to be happy to return home, a place where Princeton has a 6-5 record.
At home this season Princeton is averaging 67 points per game and this is one where they should try to push the pace and make Columbia score.
Guard Jaelin Llewellyn is the star for Princeton averaging 14.8 points per game but they also have two other players that average over ten points per game.
Columbia is 8-2 against the spread in their last ten games played on Friday. The road team is 17-4 against the spread in the last 21 meetings between Princeton and Columbia. Princeton is 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games overall.
The under is 19-7-1 in Princeton’s last 27 games against the Ivy League. The under is 15-5-1 in Princeton’s last 21 home games.
Princeton has had a lot of success covering the spreads this season and it’s going to be no different in this game. Look for Princeton to attack the poor Columbia defense and that will be enough to win this game and cover the spread.
