The Weber State Wildcats (11-18, CONF 7-11) and Idaho Vandals (7-22, CONF 3-15) face off in a Big Sky showdown at the Kibbie Dome. Weber State beat Idaho by one point near the end of December.
Weber State has not had the type of season they were hoping for, and coming into this game they have lost four of the last five games. In each of those four losses, Weber State has also failed to cover the spread.
Weber State isn’t an elite offensive team, but their real issue on the road has been the defense giving up 75.8 points per game while letting opponents shoot 49.3 percent from the field.
Weber State is led by guard Jerrick Harding who is averaging 22.2 points per game. As good as he has been, Weber State hasn’t had enough other guys step up and they need that if they want to win this game.
Idaho has lost eight of their last ten games and during that stretch they have only covered three of the spreads.
Idaho isn’t a great offensive team and their defense has been terrible alos. Over the last five games the Vandals are averaging 58 points per game while the defense is giving up 83 points. Idaho is led by Trevon Allen who is averaging 20.3 points while shooting 43.6 percent from the field.
Outside of Allen, there is a lack of scoring, and something that will need to be addressed for this game.
Weber State is 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 road games. The over is 37-18 in Weber State’s last 55 road games. Idaho is 7-17-1 against the spread in their last 25 games played on Thursday. The home team is 7-2 against the spread in the last nine meetings between Weber State and Idaho.
This is a series that has been dominated by the home squad and it’s going to happen again. Look for Idaho to find enough offense against a weak defense and that will lead to an easy cover of the spread.
Shane’s Pick Idaho +1.5
