The Miami of Ohio Redhawks (12-17, CONF 5-11) and Buffalo Bulls (18-11, CONF 9-7) face off in a MAC showdown at Alumni Arena. Buffalo has won the last three games over the Redhawks including earlier in the season when they won 83-78.
Miami has been ultra inconsistent this year but coming into this game they have won two games in a row. Each of the last two games the Redhawks defense has been strong giving up an average of 56 points.
On the road this season Miami of Ohio’s defense has been a big issue giving up 77.6 points and letting opponents shoot 47.9 percent from the field.
The Redhawks are led by guard Nike Sibande who is averaging 13.6 points while shooting 43.1 percent from the field. In the last game against Bowling Green, Sibande put up 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Buffalo needs to win the conference tournament if they want to make the NCAA tournament and to do that they need to be more consistent.
Buffalo had won four games in a row but they have lost two games in a row and the defense has been a big issue. Two games ago against Ohio, Buffalo gave up 80 points, and in the last game Akron they gave up 86 points.
Buffalo is led by guard Jayvon Graves who is averaging 16.9 points while shooting 42.3 percent from the field. As good as Graves has been there has been a couple of games where he has had real duds and that can’t happen in this game.
Miami of Ohio is 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 road games overall. Buffalo is 3-7 against the spread in their last ten games played on Tuesday. The under is 8-2 in Buffalo’s last ten games overall. The under is 11-1 in Miami of Ohio’s last 12 games. The home team is 6-1-1 against the spread in the last eight meetings between the Redhawks and Bulls.
Buffalo is a strong offensive team, but Miami isn’t and they need to keep the pace down in this game. Look for a slower pace to help keep the total lower, which means the under will cash with ease.
