The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (5-24, CONF 4-10) and Howard Bison (2-27, CONF 0-14) face off in a Mid-Eastern Conference showdown at the Burr Gymnasium. The Hawks beat the Bison 78-66 earlier this season.
Maryland Eastern Shore have had a terrible season but they do have confidence having already beaten Howad earlier this season. Away from home this season Maryland Eastern Shore only has one win and the biggest issue has been the offense averaging only 53.8 points per game.
Over the last five games the Hawks offense has been better averaging 65.4 points per game but the defense has let them down giving up 74 points.
Forward AJ Cheeseman has been the best player for the Hawks this season averaging 10.2 points while shooting 44.5 percent from the field. In Maryland Eastern Shore’s last game Cheeseman put up 19 points.
Howard has had some really big issues this season and they still are looking for their first win in conference play. In Howard’s last ten games, the Bison have zero wins but they have covered five of the spreads.
The offense has been okay for Howard this season, but their defense has been a real big issue giving up 81.6 points per game at home.
The first game against Maryland Eastern Shore, Howard’s defense was a real big issue and it’s going to need to be a lot better in this game, if they want any chance.
Howard is led by guard Charles Williams who is averaging 17.8 points while shooting 40.5 percent from the field.
In Howard's last game Williams only put up seven points and that isn’t enough if they want to win this game.
Howard is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games played on Monday. Howard is 6-16 against the spread in their last 22 home games. The over is 7-3 in Howard’s last ten games overall.
These are both teams who have struggled this season, but there is no way to way this type of number with a Howard squad that is on such a long losing streak. Back the Hawks to cover the spread in this game.
