The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (19-9, CONF 12-4) and North Texas Mean Green (19-10, CONF 13-3) face off in a Conference USA showdown at The Super Pit. The Conference USA championship is on the line in this game. Western Kentucky knocked off North Texas 93-84 earlier this season.
Western Kentucky is having a nice season but the last few games they haven’t looked as sharp. In Western Kentucky’s last three games they are 2-1 but the two wins took overtime to get the job done. The one loss for Western Kentucky was a bad one, losing by two points against Charlotte, a game they were favored by six points in.
On the road this season Western Kentucky has a 5-5 record and when they struggle ti’s because of the defense that is giving up 70.3 points per game.
In Western Kentucky’s last game it was Taveion Hollingsworth who put up 43 points in 43 minutes and he has a ton of confidence. Hollingsworth is dealing with an ankle injury but he is expected to go in this game.
North Texas is also playing some really good basketball coming into this game having won eight of the last ten games. At home this season the Mean Green have a 12-3 record and their defense has locked down giving up only 61.8 points per game.
North Texas is led by guards Umoja Gibson and Javion Hamlet who are both averaging 14 points per game.
In this game if the Mean Green can play some good defense, they should be in good shape to come away with a win.
The under is 7-2 in Western Kentucky’s last nine games as an underdog. North Texas is 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 home games. Western Kentucky is 10-1 against the spread in their last 11 games against North Texas. The under is 9-2-1 in North Texas last 12 games played on Sunday.
Western Kentucky has dominated this series and this spread is way too big. Look for North Texas to win this game, but Western Kentucky will do enough to keep this game close and cover the spread.
