The Long Beach State 49ers (10-19, CONF 5-8) and the UC Davis Aggies (13-16, CONF 7-6) face off in a Big West showdown at The Pavilion. UC Davis knocked off Long Beach State 85-82 in the middle of January.
Long Beach State has had a lot of struggles this season and are coming off a nine point loss against Cal State Northridge. The biggest reasons for the 49ers struggles this season is because of their play on the road.
Away from home this season LBSU only has two wins and the biggest problem has been the defense giving up 80.2 points per game.
80.2 points a game given up is a problem for any team, but especially for an offense that is only averaging 63.8 points. Guard Chance Hunter is LBSU’s best player averaging 13.9 points while shooting 45 percent from the field.
UC Davis has also had their issues this season but they have been playing better as of late winning four of their last five games. Over the last ten games the Aggies have covered seven of the spreads.
At home this season UC Davis has a 7-3 record and the offense has been strong averaging 73.9 points per game. The defense at home hasn’t been great giving up 71.1 points per game, but most games UC Davis has had the offense to make up for it.
UC Davis is led by Joe Mooney who is averaging 13 points while shooting 45.4 percent from the field. Mooney is also shooting 88.2 percent from the free throw line.
LBSU is 3-8-1 against the spread in their last 12 road games. Long Beach State is 9-4-1 against the spread in their last 14 Saturday games.
UC Davis is 8-1 against the spread in their last nine Saturday games. UC Davis is 17-4 against the spread in their last 21 games overall.
The over is 10-4 in Long Beach State’s last 14 road games. The over is 6-2 in the Aggies last eight games as a home favorite.
UC Davis is the better offensive team and they are going to run up the score. Long Beach State is going to have no answer and that will lead to an easy cover by the home team.
