The Pacific Tigers (22-9, CONF 10-5) and San Diego Toreros (9-21, CONF 2-13) face off in a West Coast Conference showdown at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Pacific knocked off San Diego 66-58 earlier this season.
No one is talking about the Pacific Tigers which really is a shame because they are having quite the season. Pacific comes into this game having won two games in a row and seven of the last eight games. Away from home Pacific sits above.500 and they are the favorites in this game.
Away from home this season Pacific is averaging 64.4 points per game while the defense is giving up 64.7 points.
Pacific has proven this season they can win low scoring games and high scoring games. In their last game against Loyola Marymount they gave up only 53 points and that was enough to come away with a win.
Pacific is led by guard Jahlil Tripp who is averaging 15.6 points while shooting over 52 percent from the field.
San Diego has had a lot of issues this season and they have lost nine of their last ten games. The one during that stretch for San Diego was over Portland and that one took overtime.
Over the last five games, San Diego has had a lot of issues giving up 82.2 points per game and letting opponents shoot almost 50 percent.
The only real bright spot for San Diego this year is guard Braun Hartfield who is averaging 14.2 points per game. In the last game against Gonzaga, Hartfield was only able to put up three points and that isn’t enough moving forward.
If San Diego wants to win this game it’s probably going to take at least 18 points for Hartfield.
There is no doubt Pacific is the better team and even on the road they are going to have no issue. Pacific will attack the weak defense of San Diego and that will lead to an easy victory by the Tigers.
