The Auburn Tigers (24-4, CONF 11-4) and Kentucky Wildcats (23-5, CONF 13-2) face off in an SEC showdown at Rupp Arena. Auburn knocked off Kentucky 75-66 on the first day of February.
Auburn only has four losses on the season, but two of those losses were in the last four games. Both of those losses were on the road and the Tigers were the favorites in the two games.
Away from home this season Auburn has a 4-4 record and their biggest issue has been with the scoring when they struggle. On the road this season Auburn is only averaging 68.9 points per game while the defense is giving up 74.6 points .
Auburn is led by Samir Doughty who is averaging 16.1 points while shooting 40.9 percent from the field. Doughty doesn’t often drop 25 or 30 points but he is consistently scoring at least 12 points, and he is someone they can trust every game.
Kentucky is heating up at the right time and coming into this game they have won seven games in a row, and covered six of the spreads.
The Wildcats are a strong offensive team, but they also have no issues winning lower scoring games. Two games ago against Florida, the defense stepped up giving up only 59 points and that led to a victory.
At home this season Kentucky is averaging 76 points per game while the defense is giving up 62.6 points per game.
Guard Immanuel Quickley is the star of the Wildcats averaging 16.2 points while shooting 41.9 percent from the field.
In Kentucky’s last game against Texas A&M, Quickley dropped 30 points and that led to an easy victory.
The under is 23-11 in Kentucky’s last 34 home games. The under is 13-4 in the last 17 meetings between Kentucky and Auburn. Auburn is 5-2-1 in the last eight meetings against Kentucky.
Auburn already won over Kentucky earlier this season and their offense is going to give the Wildcats everything they can handle.
Look for Auburn to get out to a fast start and that will be enough for them to cover the spread.
