The Eastern Illinois Panthers (14-14, CONF 7-9) and Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (7-22, CONF 3-13) face off in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown at Show Me Center. Eastern Illinois knocked off Southeast Missouri State 61-59 earlier this season.
Eastern Illinois hasn’t had the best season but they do come into this game having won their last two games. Each of the last two games the Panthers were outright dogs and they still found a way to win the game.
Away from home this season Eastern Illinois has won only three of their 11 games and the offense has let them down. On the season Eastern Illinois is averaging 73.2 points per game but away from home that number drops to 68.8 points.
Eastern Illinois is led by guard Josiah Wallace who is playing over 31 minutes a game and averaging 15.1 points per game. Wallace is shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from behind the three point line.
Southeast Missouri State has had a lot of issues this season and coming into this game they have lost two straight games. The offense has really struggled each of the last two games averaging only 60 points per game.
At home this season the Redhawks are averaging 72 points per game but the defense has been terrible giving up 77 points per game.
Redhawks guard Alex Caldwell is averaging 11.8 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field.
In this game the offense needs to be good, but if they want any chance it’s really going to come down to SE Missouri State’s defense finding a way to step up.
If the defense struggles for the Redhawks in this game they will have no chance to come away with a win.
EIU is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games. SEMO is 9-19-1 against the spread in their last 29 games played on Thursday. The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri State.
Eastern Illinois is not the same team on the road and this is a game where the Redhawks should find success. SE Missouri State might not win the game, but they will cover the spread.
