The Central Michigan Chippewas (13-14, CONF 6-8) and Miami of Ohio Redhawks (10-17, CONF 3-11) face off in a MAC showdown at Millett Hall. Central Michigan knocked off MIami of Ohio 93-82 in early January.
Central Michigan comes into this game really struggling having lost six games in a row, and during that stretch they covered only one spread.
Over the last five games Central Michigan is averaging 73.6 points per game, but the defense has let them down big time giving up 81 points. The offense really hasn’t been an issue for most of the season, but the defense has struggled and on the road this season they are giving up 80.2 points.
Central Michigan is led by forward David DiLeo who is averaging 15 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. In each of the last two games DiLeo has scored at least 19 points for Central MIchigan.
Miami of Ohio is really struggling and over their last ten games they only have won two games. At home this season the Redhawks have an 8-5 record and they are averaging 70.6 points while their defense is giving up 70.8 points.
The Redhawks offense has struggled coming into this game and over their last seven games they haven’t scored more than 65 points. The Redhawks are led by Nike Sibande who is averaging 13.1 points while shooting 42.2 percent from the field. In five of the last seven games Sibande has scored at least 11 points, and they need him to be lights out in this game.
Central Michigan is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 games played on Thursday. The Miami of Ohio Redhawks are 9-19 against the spread in their last 28 games overall. Central Michigan is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight meetings against Miami of Ohio.
Central Michigan has struggled, but Miami of Ohio hasn’t taken advantage of the bad defensive teams and that will be the difference. Look for Central Michigan to play enough defense to cover the spread.
