The UTSA Roadrunners (12-15, CONF 6-8) and Florida Atlantic Owls (15-13, CONF 7-8) face off in a Conference USA showdown at FAU Arena. FAU knocked off UTSA 79-64 on the second day of January.
The Roadrunners are a pretty middle of the road team and coming into this game they have two wins over their last five games. UTSA has only won three of their ten games on the road this season and the biggest issue has been with the defense.
Away from home this season UTSA is averaging 75.5 points while the defense is giving up 84.5 points. If they want a chance to win this game the defense is going to need to be better. Texas San Antonio is led by Jhivvan Jackson who is averaging 26.9 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the field.
FAU has been up and down this season and coming into this game they have lost four of the last five games. In their last game against UAB they did get back on the right track with the defense locking down giving up 58 and that was enough to lead to a victory.
At home this season FAU is averaging 73 points per game, while the defense is giving up 67.5 points per game.
Cornelius Taylor and Jailyn Ingram are the leaders of Florida Atlantic with both guys averaging at least 11 points per game.
FAU is 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 games played on Thursday. UTSA is 6-14 against the spread in their last 20 road games.
The over is 16-5 in UTSA’s last 21 games overall. The over is 10-3 in UTSA’s last 13 games against Conference USA. The under is 8-3 in FAU’s last 11 games played on Thursday.
FAU already dominated UTSA earlier this season and they are going to have no issue again in this one. Look for Florida Atlantic’s defense to lock down and that will be enough to win this game and cover the spread.
