The Colorado Buffaloes (21-7, CONF 11-5) and Cal Golden Bears (11-16, CONF 5-9) face off in a Pac 12 showdown at the Haas Pavilion. Colorado knocked off Cal 71-65 earlier this season. Even though Colorado won, they didn’t do enough to cover the spread.
Colorado is a tournament team, but they would really like to get a few big wins before the conference tournament starts. Coming into this Colorado has won seven of their last ten games, but their last game they lost by seven points against UCLA at home. Colorado has only covered one spread during their last six games.
On the road this season Colorado has a 4-4 record and when they struggle it’s because of an offense that is averaging only 63.9 points per game.
Guard McKinley Wright IV is the Buffaloes best player averaging 13.9 points while shooting 45.6 percent from the field.
Cal is going nowhere fast and if they want any chance to make the NCAA tournament they are going to have to win the Pac 12 conference tournament.
Over the last eight games, Cal has only two wins, but they have covered the spread in two of the last three games.
Cal isn’t a great offensive team averaging only 62 points per game but at home they are better averaging 69.1 points. On defense at home Cal has really struggled giving up 67.5 points per game.
Guard Matt Bradley is the star for Cal averaging 17 points per game, but there isn’t another player averaging more than 8.8.
Colorado is 14-39-1 against the spread in their last 54 road games. Cal is 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games against the Pac 12.
The over is 10-3 in Colorado’s last 13 games a favorite. The under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Cal between the Golden Bears and Buffaloes.
Colorado had struggles with Cal earlier in the season and it’s going to happen again in this game. Colorado will still win the game, but Cal’s defense will step up just enough to cover the spread.
