The Wagner Seahawks will travel to the Pope Physician Education Center to take on the St. Francis (BKN) Terriers this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The Wagner Seahawks won their 2nd straight game and improved to 7-19 (4-11 NEC) on the season after defeating the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils, 68-56, this past Friday. Wagner trailed by a 35-29 margin at halftime, however, dominated the Blue Devils on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 56-44 lead with 9:20 left in regulation. Wagner shot 49.1% from the field and 35.3% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Alex Morales who had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Wagner is averaging 68.5 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Seahawks are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wagner has been led by Curtis Cobb III (16.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.6 apg), Alex Morales (13.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.0 spg), and Elijah Ford (9.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Wagner is allowing their opponents to average 76.3 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Seahawks have a rebound margin of 0.7 and a turnover margin of -1.2.
The St. Francis (BKN) Terriers dropped to 12-15 (6-9 NEC) on the season after being defeated by the Bryant Bulldogs, 82-74, this past Friday. St. Francis (BKN) had no answers for the Bulldogs in the frontcourt and couldn’t fight back after a 6-0 Bulldogs run gave Bryant a 75-69 lead with just 1:44 left in regulation. St. Francis (BKN) shot 42.0% from the field and was outrebounded by the Bulldogs by a 53-33 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Terriers was Chauncey Hawkins who had 27 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 block, and a steal.
On the season, St. Francis (BKN) is averaging 70.0 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Terriers are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 29.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. Francis (BKN) has been led by Chauncey Hawkins (13.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.8 spg), Unique McLean (12.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.0 spg), and Deniz Celen (11.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.1 bpg).
Defensively, St. Francis (BKN) is allowing their opponents to average 71.6 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Terriers have a rebound margin of -1.4 and a turnover margin of 1.3.
The Seahawks are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Terriers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games, however, are 6-5-1 ATS at home on the season.
Wagner comes into this game ranked 258th in scoring margin, 282nd in FG%, and 319th in scoring defense.
St. Francis (BKN) comes into this match-up ranked 212nd in scoring offense, 245th in scoring defense, and 42nd in turnover margin.
Wagner has been able to pick up a couple of much needed wins at home this past week, however, it’s been a real struggle for the Seahawks on the road this season as Wagner has posted just a 2-12 road record. St. Francis (BKN) should be able to have success at home agianst Wagner’s below average defense and as the Terriers were able to win by a 69-64 margin at Wagner earlier this season, I think the Terriers do enough to cover this mid-range spread. Good Luck!
