The Sacred Heart Pioneers (16-12, CONF 9-6) and Bryant Bulldogs (14-14, CONF 6-9) face off in a Northeast Conference showdown at the Chace Athletic Center. Sacred Heart knocked off Bryant by nine points ten days ago.
Sacred Heart is a team most comfortable playing at a faster pace, and that was a big reason they struggled in their last game against Merrimack, a team that likes to slow down the tempo. The Pioneers could only manage to 57 points, and even though the defense wasn’t terrible, Merrimack still came away with a win.
Away from home this season Sacred Heart has a 9-7 record and are averaging 74.9 points while giving up 74.8. Guards E.J. Anosike and Koreem Ozier both pace Sacred Heart averaging over 14 points per game.
Sacred Heart is playing a team that likes to play a little slower pace, so it’s going to be important they try and speed things up. Sacred Heart's offense put up 74 points in the first game against Bryant, and that number should be their target in this one.
Bryant has been strong at home, but has really struggled on the road. The Bulldogs currently sit with a 9-4 record at the Chace Athletic Center, and a 5-10 record away from it.
Bryant’s defense has been the difference at home giving up only 64.6 points and allowing opponents to shoot only 39 percent.
In Bryant’s last game the offense put up 82 points, with Juan Cardenas and Michael Green both finishing with at least 22 points.
The under is 18-6 in Sacred Heart’s last 24 games overall. The under is 6-2 in Bryant’s last eight games overall. The under is 19-7 in the Bulldogs last 26 home games. Sacred Heart is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 road games.
Sacred Heart already knocked off Bryant once this season, and the change of venue isn’t going to change the outcome of the game. Sacred Heart will be allowed to push the pace, which will be enough for them to cover the spread. If this line moves to with Bryant being a bigger favorite, bet Sacred Heart on the money line for some increased value.
